The Impact of Wind Power Implantation in Transmission Systems

چکیده
The use of renewable energy sources in world will increase, leading to a more sustainable energy mix, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and a lower dependency from oil. Wind power is one of the renewable energy sources that have virtually no environmental problems; it is one of the fastest growing sources of energy in the world. In industry, the wind power creates new jobs, encourages innovation. Most research on wind power has been concerned with producing electricity. This effort restarted in the United States in the early 1970s. However, the largest disadvantage of wind energy is the lack of exact predictability and its fluctuations, which are causing problems in the power flow of transmission system when the weak nature of the grid in remote areas and the uncertainty of wind are taken into consideration.

Return on Investment in Transmission Network Expansion Planning Considering Wind Generation Uncertainties Applying Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm
Although significant private investment is absorbed in different sectors of power systems, transmission sector is still suffering from appropriate private investment. This is because of the pricing policies of transmission services, tariffs, and especially for investment risks. Investment risks are due to the uncertain behaviour of power systems that discourage investors to invest in the transm...

The purpose of this paper is to improve the modeling of the data-driven wind turbine system that receives data from noise signals. Most of the data on industrial systems is noisely and data noise is inevitable and natural. The method and idea proposed in this paper, Data Fogging, significantly reduce the impact of noise on data-driven wind turbine system modeling, which is the basis of this met...

Encountering series-compensated transmission lines, sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) may strike the power system by jeopardizing its stability and mechanical facilities. This paper aims to verify the capability of static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) in mitigating the mechanical and electrical oscillations such as SSR in wind farm integrations. A wind turbine with a self–excited inductio...

The significant penetration rate of wind turbines in power systems made some challenges in the operation of the systems such as large-scale power fluctuations induced by wind farms. Gas-fired plants with fast starting ability and high ramping can better handle natural uncertainties of wind power compared to other traditional plants. Therefore, the integration of electrical and natural gas syste...

Environmental concerns and depletion of nonrenewable resources has made great interest towards renewable energy resources. Cleanness and high potential are factors that caused fast growth of wind energy. However, the stochastic nature of wind energy makes the presence of energy storage systems (ESS) in wind integrated power systems, inevitable. Due to capability of being used in large-scale sys...
